i'm currently taking applications for anyone who answers to the word "mom/mommy" and would like to spend a day with me. thanks nat, for reminding us why a name that is "dearer than other" can also be so infuriating and nails on a chalkboardish!
before you feel too bad for me, the hubster did let me go on an hour run last night. i have commitments tonight (whole family) and tomorrow night (sans kids). earlier this week i was feeling bad about being gone so many nights in a week, but now the idea is sounding grand.

Although my kids can't yet say mom I feel your pain. I've been told by a friend that I should make sure that this kids first word is dad and not mom....so that his is the name they call in the middle of the night...."Sweetheart, the babies need YOU".
One day when I'm bored, I shall tally the times I hear that name...spoken by all of the children. I wonder how high that tally will be...
I would so sign up... if I were there :( wah, wahhhh. Next time you feel chalkboard-ish when your darlings call for you, just remember how awesome you are and thats why they call. At least thats what I've been saying to myself lately.
I object to being referred to ask "the hubster." (Should I used my new found blogging abilities to just edit it out?)
@the hubster- do what you may; i'll make a note of it for the future.
We have all been there! My husband is gone so much that it is a major celebration for the kids every time her comes home. Somehow I never get that kind of reception since I am with them 24/7!! Never feel bad for needing some alone time to remember you!
Gotta love it when they walk right by Daddy, who's watching t.v., to find Mommy, who's upstairs cleaning, and ask for a drink. My kids do this ALL THE TIME!
I think they are just so used to harrassing me all the time that they don't quite know what to do when their other parent is around! The name "Mom" definitely takes on a nails-on-the-chalkboard quality at those times!
