quote of the (yester)day

"i can be talkative!"* -Pat

*in fairness to pat, he did add a "sort of" after a brief pause (and maybe incredulous gasp from me). in actuality, i'm proud of him. he was telling me how in a recent business meeting, he had to be the one to keep the conversation going. i'm all for pat being talkative, and would even welcome more posts by him on this blog.

Oh yeah, I have seen Pat be talkative. He just needs to find the right things to talk about. He explained it once to me that his thought process is so all over the place that if he verbalized what he was thinking everyone would just be confused. Go Pat!

April, the thing you have to keep in mind is that you grew up with two brothers who are effectually girls(as talking is concerned).

Not all men talk as much as we do - and that is often a good thing. I be t Pat gets in a LOT less trouble than I do.

You could fill the vast emptiness of space with the amount of useless drivel that has slithered past my loose lips in the last 28 years.

First of all, if Pat can be talkative, then all the Hinckley men can grow hair on their heads. I guess we just have to redefine talkative (or hair?) Secondly, WAY TO GO, APRIL!! I think reading about your race is the first blog tear I have shed for weeks. I am so very, very proud of you. I'm sticking with the 5K format, myself. Actually, I've even given that up. I'm sticking to a flat 3 miles in my own neighborhood. And no pictures.

Jim--
5 minute laugh for the brothers as girls comment. I think everyone in our family is missing the filter that lifts the dross from our brain before it gets to our mouths. I'm sure we would have a lot less to say if we had them.
It reminds me of the funniest conversation Josh and I had a while back. After hanging up the phone from an hour long conversation with April, I turned to Josh and said, "Sometimes, I wonder how it is April and I find so much to talk about." Josh gave an exasperated sigh and replied, "Wendy, I wonder that EVERY TIME you talk to her."
Now, if only we could convert our energy for talking into energy for running, we could have a mongo MacNair team for the half-marathon next year. See? Even when I'm writing, I don't know how to stop until I have exhausted all the stupid comments in my head.
I get to see my Jake, Grace, Lily and Evan this weekend-hooray! Send Lily with the craziest clothes you can-OK?

Oops -- the Lily comment was for April, not Jim.

"is that lily holding baby lily?" -lily's response when i showed her a picture of gracie holding her when lily was a baby.

"drama class is actually a lot of fun." -gracie (this is only humorous in that grace seemed surprised by how much she likes drama class. this from my child who we refer to as "a drama queen" when she is not around.)

"mom, you can go with my teacher and i'll stay home with japie and evan. daddy can go to work, and i'll be the mommy" -lily, in response to learning that she would be going to preschool next year instead of this year.

"mom, if you don't get rid of that smell soon, you're going to have to buy a new car." -gracie when it took me a couple of days to clean out my car after returning from a road trip.

"mommy, they have dress-ups for you!" -lily while walking by the prom dress section at macy's.

"i said the prayer "last"-erday." -lily's replacement word for "yesterday."
