party and presents

lily had a birthday party with her friends this past saturday. her very talented nanna brought tree frogs, gerbil and chameleon as well as her singing puppets. she had the kids totally engrossed for an hour. it was lots of fun and we greatly appreciate nanna sharing her talents with everyone.

unfortunately, the memory card on my camera filled up right before lily blew out her candles. i only took video of her the night that we celebrated as a family on her birthday. alas, i have no pictures of her blowing out her candles to post (which is what she was most excited about). she did a good job and blew all three candles out with one blow (both times).

lily got some clothes from grandparents (which she loves and keeps wearing), a skirt that plays music when you dance in it (also well used at this point) and a fish from us. she named her fish blue and she is already a well-loved addition to the family. the girls love to feed and gracie even sings to her.

The party sounds great! I love that you gave Lily a fish - what a great gift. My kids are the opposite of yours--we went to Bugaboo Creek sometime last year and it freaked my kids out!

April,
As you know, I am not a fan of blogs. But, your latest entries are GREAT!! Last October, after I returned from Germany, you and the kids visited my father and brother. I didn't even noice the jet lag because I had so much fun with Gracie, Lily and Evan. Disneyland with them was a blast. Looking at the pictures makes me want to relive those moments. Give them a birthday kiss them for me.

quotables

"is that lily holding baby lily?" -lily's response when i showed her a picture of gracie holding her when lily was a baby.

"drama class is actually a lot of fun." -gracie (this is only humorous in that grace seemed surprised by how much she likes drama class. this from my child who we refer to as "a drama queen" when she is not around.)

"mom, you can go with my teacher and i'll stay home with japie and evan. daddy can go to work, and i'll be the mommy" -lily, in response to learning that she would be going to preschool next year instead of this year.

"mom, if you don't get rid of that smell soon, you're going to have to buy a new car." -gracie when it took me a couple of days to clean out my car after returning from a road trip.

"mommy, they have dress-ups for you!" -lily while walking by the prom dress section at macy's.

"i said the prayer "last"-erday." -lily's replacement word for "yesterday."
